Quebec Fashion Honoured in Atlanta

October 7, 2009 - On October 17, 2009, some twenty representatives of the ready-to-wear clothing industry in Quebec will participate in a highly anticipated fashion show during the Montréal Collections event in Atlanta.

The Simon Chang line will take center stage during the evening. Mr. Chang recently received the Order of Canada in recognition of his contribution to the fashion industry as well as for his philanthropic endeavours and social involvement.  

More than 700 buyers from specialty shops and agents from the southern United States are expected to attend the show highlighting spring collections for 2010. 

The fashion show will take place in the Penthouse Theatre of the AmericasMart, in Atlanta, Georgia.

This activity is the result of a partnership between the Ministère du Développement économique, de l’Innovation et de l’Exportation and the Quebec Delegation in Atlanta.

Montréal Collections groups together all action taken by the Government of Quebec to promote the growing role of Montréal as a design capital.

Fashion shows and presentations are among the strategies developed by delegations from Quebec present in major cities in Canada and the United States.  The Montréal fashion industry has much to offer the market:

• Very high quality of garments
• Original style
• Expertise and flexibility of the designers and their workforce.

Montréal ranks second in North America for fashion production, behind Los Angeles.
